200 Free Relay Victory Highlights Wilkes Men's Swimming Defeat to Arcadia
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's swimming team suffered its first defeat against a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) team this season against Arcadia University at the Wyoming Valley CYC Saturday afternoon by a 183 to 79 final score.
Wilkes now stands at 5-2 overall and 3-1 against MAC competition. Arcadia improved to 6-3 overall.

In the last race of the day the top Wilkes 200 Free Relay team of
Jared Byrne (Pequea, PA/Penn Manor),
Justin Burda (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic),
Nick Martino (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) and
Joseph Antolick (Ringtown, PA/North Schuylkill) placed first of six total foursomes to pick up the second first-place finish of the afternoon for the Colonels. The team of finished with a time of 1:31.66.
Also highlighting the day was new school record and a first-place finisher in the 100 backstroke.
Trey Harloff (Apex, NC/Apex Friendship) set a new school record in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:02.83 besting the previous top time of 2:06.13 by over three full seconds. The time was also good enough to rank as the fifth fastest in the MAC coming into today during this season of competition.
Martino won the 100 backstroke race with a time of 1:00.12 against eight total swimmers.
Timothy Sechler-Stone (Allentown, PA/Salisbury) placed third with a 1:00.72.
Antolick placed second out of eight with a 22.84 in the 50 freestyle.
Byrne finished second with a 2:26.05 and Harloff took third with a 2:26.10 in the 200 breaststroke. Harloff was second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.97 just shy of the school record of 2:05.30.
Tyler Weatherby (Sewell, NJ/Gloucester County Institute of Technology) was third of seven swimmers in the 100 breaststroke coming in at 1:08.02 and Burda was third of seven in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.44.
To start the day the team of Byrne, Harloff, Burda and Antolick placed second of six teams in the 200 Medley Relay finishing in 1:41.03.
The Colonels remain idle until after the New Year when they travel to Dallas, Pa. to face Misericordia University on Sunday, January 13 at 11:00 a.m.
