Wilkes Swimming Finishes Day Two of MAC Championships
YORK, Pa. – The Wilkes University men's and women's swim teams finished the second day of the 2018 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) championships at the Graham Aquatic Center on Friday evening.
The men currently sit in seventh place overall while the women are seeded in 11
th place.

The men continued their fine showing to open the championships, earning another podium trip with a seventh place finish in the 400 medley relay. The team of
Jared Byrne (Pequea, PA/Penn Manor),
Anthony Stampone (Kent Island, MD/Kent Island),
Justin Burda (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic), and
Nick Martino (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) finished in 3:42.27, which also set a new program record.
Byrne set a new program record in the 100 backstroke during his leg of the 400 medley relay, finishing his swim in 54.70. Byrne also finished ninth in the 50 freestyle final with a time of 22.00.
Martino completed the 50 freestyle in 22.77, good for a 16
th place finish.
On the women's side, the team of
Abby Keating (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove),
Kyleigh Smeltzer (Manchester, PA/Northeastern),
Allie Aspey (Dover, PA/Dover), and
Morgan Williams (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) finished the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:25.71 for an 11
th place finish. That time also bested the previous record of 4:29.71.
Keating finished in 11
th place in the 200 IM with a time of 2:16.16.
Both teams return to the pool for day three tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m.
