Wilkes Men's Lacrosse Wins Big as Five Record Multiple Goals

ROSEMONT, Pa. – John Wink (Glenside, PA/Abington) (four), Nico Lorenzo (Howell, NJ/Howell) (three), Kiernan Quinn (Lacey, NJ/Lacey Twp.) (two), John Luna (Valley Center, CA/Valley Center) (two) and Nicholas Ruggiero (Califon, NJ/Voorhees) (two) all recorded multi-goal games in the Wilkes University men's lacrosse team's 18-5 victory over Rosemont College on Wednesday evening.

The Colonels evened their record at 2-2 with the win.

Lorenzo got the scoring started in the second minute with an unassisted man-up goal. Rosemont opened its own scoring two minutes later with an unassisted goal of its own.

Wink and Ruggiero scored at 9:10 and 6:30, respectively, to give Wilkes a 3-1 lead.

After the Ravens cut the lead to 3-2 with just over a minute until halftime, the Colonels scored seven consecutive goals, a run finished by Luna's goal with 11:29 showing in the fourth quarter as they reached a 10-2 advantage.

After Rosemont netted a goal to stop the run with 11:05 on the clock, Wilkes recorded three consecutive goals highlighted by Quinn's first two career goal that gave the Colonels a 15-4 lead.

The Ravens scored a man-up goal with over four minutes remaining before Garrett Armstrong (Hampton, NJ/Kittatinny) finished the scoring with his first career goal.

Carter Whittemore (Rochester, NY/West Irondequoit) earned his second win of the season, making seven saves.

Wilkes outshot the Ravens 47-16 with 28 hitting their target. The Colonels were also successful on two of three clears.

Wilkes returns to action on Saturday when they host Alvernia for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference game Schmidt Stadium.
