Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Closes Season at DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, PA – The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team closed out its 2018 season with Kyra Boccio (Dingmans Ferry, Pa./Delaware Valley) tallying her seventh hat trick of the season in a 16-4 setback at DeSales University Saturday afternoon in a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) contest.

With the loss Wilkes finished the season 3-13 overall and 0-7 in MAC Freedom action. DeSales improved to 5-10 overall and 2-5 in the conference.

The Bulldogs scored the first goal 5:31 into the first half and by halftime led 13-0.

Boccio scored her first goal of the day on the man-up with 11:15 left in the second half to make the score 15-1. Sierra Duman (Smyrna, DE/Smyrna) then scored her 19th goal of the season on a successful free position attempt with 8:31 left. Boccio closed the scoring with two goals. First, with 3:09 left she scored on a free position opportunity and then with 1:38 remaining the junior found the net to bring her season goal total to 39.

Kirsten Jackson (Baltimore, MD/Kenwood) led Wilkes with three ground balls and three caused turnovers and Jessyca Held (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) followed with two ground balls, two caused turnovers, and two draw controls in her final game wearing a Wilkes uniform.

Sarah Carlini (Collegeville, PA/Pope John Paul II) made seven saves in 49 minutes of action in goal for the Lady Colonels. Melania Velasquez (Baltimore, MD/Patapsco) play four minutes with one save and Ashley Cadet (Lansdowne, PA/Penn Wood) played the final seven minutes in net.

Katie Kingsland led DeSales with four goals and Eilis McCall added three goals and one assist.
