WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Wilkes University wrestling team concluded action at the 2019 Budd Whitehill Duals recording a pair of victories on day two of the event Saturday afternoon.
 
The Colonels opened the day with a 22-20 victory over Wisconsin-Eau Claire before posting a 34-6 win over SUNY Oswego to finish the two-day event with a 4-1 mark. Wilkes stands 14-3 overall in dual matches on the season winning 10 of its last 12 dual matches dating back to early December.
 
Nicholas Bauer (Coplay, PA/Wyoming Seminary) began the match with Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a 6-2 decision over Jack Marley at 125. After Wisconsin took a decision at 133 to tie the match, Wilkes took the next four bouts with three coming with bonus points. Thomas Stokes (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem) earned a 10-7 decision at 141 followed by a technical fall (17-0) from Kyle Medrow (West Chester, PA/West Chester Henderson) at 149. John Ritter (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) added another technical fall (16-0) at 157 and Nicholas Racanelli (West Creek, NJ/Southern Regional) pinned Chase Schmidt in 5:52 at 165 as the Colonel lead grew to 22-3. Wisconsin took the final four bouts of the match but two decisions at 197 and 285 was not enough to overcome the Wilkes advantage.
 
The Colonels cruised to a 28-point win in its second match of the day against Oswego taking eight of the ten bouts and four coming with bonus points. Brock Horton (Towanda, PA/Athens) earned a major decision at 133 and Austin Cominsky (Cape May Courthouse, NJ/Middle Township) and Roger Horton (Towanda, Pa./Athens) recorded falls at 197 and 285 to seal the victory for Wilkes.
 
Wilkes returns to the mat Saturday hosting the 2019 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships at King's College. Wrestling gets underway at 10:30 a.m.
