Wilkes Men's Soccer Falls in Road Conference Contest

MADISON, N.J. – The Wilkes University Colonels men's soccer squad hit the road Saturday evening to play conference newcomer Stevens.

The Colonels (6-4-2, 1-1 MAC Freedom) struggled to find their footing against the Ducks (7-3-2, 1-0-1) and fell in their first conference road game of the season in a 4-0 affair.

In the first half, the Colonels let the Ducks shoot 12 times, seven of which were on goal.  Stevens put home goals at the 13th, 24th, and 29th minutes of the half to go into the halftime break up 3-0.  The Colonels themselves had three shots in the period, none of which were on goal.

The two teams sat scoreless for most of the second half, though Stevens tacked on a goal at the 87th minute to extend their lead to 4-0.  The Ducks again outshot the Colonels in the second half, this time by an 11-3 margin.

Six Colonels recorded a shot on the evening, with freshman midfielder Marc Kyriakidis (Sleepy Hollow, NY/Plesantville) earning the Colonels' lone shot on goal.  The Ducks finished the match with 23 shots total, while the Wilkes goalkeepers combined for six saves.

The Colonels look to bounce back in the last game of their three-game road trip Wednesday.  They travel to Dallas, Pa. to face Misericordia at 7:00 p.m.
