Wilkes Women's Cross Country Fast in Third Place Finish at the Golden Eagle Invite
BETHPAGE, NY – The Wilkes University women's cross country team had a terrific race at the Golden Eagles Invitational at the Bethpage State Park host by St. Joseph's College – Long Island on Saturday by placing third of 19 teams. Five runners garnered Top 30 Medals and also landed in the top 13 of the Colonels all-time 5k list and all nine runners set their personal-best distance time.

The Colonels earned 114 team points from its top five finishers for the third place team finish. It is the third time in five events this season that Wilkes has placed third. St. Thomas Aquinas placed first with 31 points. There were 150 runners in the race.
Freshman
Mia Hensil (East Berlin, PA/Bermudian Springs) led the Colonels with a 14th place finish. Her time of 19:59.2 landed her third on the all-time 5k list at Wilkes.
Sara Ross (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) finished 23rd and now ranks fifth on the Wilkes 5k list with a time of 20:22.3.
Autumn Pedron (Pottsville, PA/Minersville) finished 25th and earned the seventh fastest 5k time in program history with a 20:28.7.
Mia Walker (Matawan, NJ/Matawan Regional) followed with the 11
th-fastest Wilkes time ever at 20:43.9 and placed 30th in the race. Rounding out the scorers for the Colonels was
Sydney Rochette (Colchester, CT/Academy of Aerospace and Engineering) in 31st with a time of 20:46.2. That was good for 13th in the Wilkes record book.
Kaitlin Sutton (Shavertown, PA/Lake Lehman) (36th, 21:10.7),
Jill Weston (South Canaan, PA/Western Wayne) (62nd, 22:52.2),
Arianna Ryan (Brockton, PA/Tamaqua) (63rd, 22:58.0), and
Alexa Boersma (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) (76
th, 23:37.3) rounded out the field of runners for Wilkes.
Wilkes returns to the course on Saturday, October 19 for the Hood College Invitational at 10:30 a.m. in Frederick, Md.
