Crossgrove and Keating Earn Wins as Wilkes Women's Swimming Opens Season
GLENSIDE, PA –
Alexa Crossgrove (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area) won three events and
Abby Keating (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove Area) added another first place as the Wilkes University women's swimming team split its season-opening tri-meet at Arcadia University Saturday. The Colonels defeated Immaculata University 162-44 and fell to the host Arcadia 176-80.

Crossgrove set a new team record in the 1,000 Freestyle with a time of 11:33.58 to earn a victory in her first career race for the Colonels. The sophomore then won the 50 Freestyle with a time of 25.77 and took her third first-place finish of the day in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:24.52.
Keating won the 500 Freestyle race with a time of 5:44.52. The junior also had two second-place finishes on the day. She placed runner-up in the 200 Butterfly coming in at 2:32.30 and also was second in the 200 IM with a finish at 2:28.81.
Freshman
Deanna Wadzin (Sugar Notch, PA/Hanover Area) debuted with a second place in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:13.81. Wadzin also placed third in the 100 Butterfly at 1:10.54.
Tricia Bartosh (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) likewise began her collegiate career with a second and a third. She placed second in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:07.71 and third in the 100 Freestyle with a 1:01.90.
Fellow freshman
Maddy Kinard (Dover, PA/Dover Area) placed third in the 100 Backstroke as she finished in 1:08.57.
Emilie Detweiler (Muncy, PA/Hughesville) came in second place in the 100 Breaststroke race with a time of 1:19.09 while
Kyleigh Smeltzer (York, PA/Northeastern) placed third with a 1:19.30.
The 400 Freestyle Relay team of Crossgrove, Kinard, Wadzin and
Jessica Turnitza (Cumbola, PA/Pottsville Area) placed second of six teams with a time of 4:04.41. The 200 Medley Relay team of Kinard, Detweiler, Wadzin and Keating opened the meet with a third place out of seven teams with a time of 2:02.34.
The Colonels return to the pool in Carlisle, Pa. on Saturday, November 2 for a tri-meet against Dickinson College and Lebanon Valley College.
