Wilkes Women's Swimming Earns Home Meet Victory, Crossgrove Claims 500 Freestyle Record
WILKES-BARRE – The Colonels hosted their first home swimming meet of the season and came away with a 118-80 victory over Mount Saint Mary College.

Sophomore
Alexa Crossgrove (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area) came away with two individual victories on the day, finishing with a 1:06.38 in the 100 Backstroke, and setting the Colonels record in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:31.93, breaking the 5:33.16 mark set by
Morgan Williams (Scranton, PA/West Scranton). She also helped the Colonels to their lone relay victory of the day, setting a 2:02.06 time with freshman
Tricia Bartosh (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall), sophomore
Emilie Detweiler (Muncy, PA/Hughesville), and junior
Abby Keating (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove Area) in the 200 Medley Relay.
Keating, Detweiler, and Bartosh each came away with an individual victory of their own. Bartosh finished the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:16.01, Detweiler the 100 Breastroke with a 1:15.33, and Keating the 100 Freestyle with a 1:00.14.
Three other Colonels came home with event victories in the afternoon. Freshman
Maddy Kinard (Dover, PA/Dover Area) claimed the gold in the 200 Backstroke with a 2:28.86, while sophomore
Jessica Turnitza (Cumbola, PA/Pottsville Area) took the 50 Freestyle with a 28.27 time. Senior
Kyleigh Smeltzer (York, PA/Northeastern) wrapped up the victories for the Colonels with a time of 2:50.41 in the 200 Breaststroke.
The Colonels travel crosstown next weekend for the Diamond Invitational hosted by King's College. The Saturday events start at 9:00 a.m., while the Sunday portion of the event begins at 10:00 a.m.
