Wilkes Women's Swimming Drops Tri-Meet, Crossgrove Earns Two Victories
CARLISLE, PA – The Wilkes University Colonels women's swimming team continued their 2019-2020 campaign with a tri-meet against host Dickinson and Lebanon Valley, a fellow member of the Middle Atlantic Conference. The squad fell to Dickinson 112-79 and Lebanon Valley 113-81.
Sophomore
Alexa Crossgrove (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area) came home with two individual victories and helped the Colonels to a relay victory as well. She finished with a 2:03.43 time in the 200-yard freestyle and a 5:37.13 in the 500-yard freestyle, and teamed up with junior
Abby Keating (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove Area), freshman
Tricia Bartosh (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall), and freshman
Maddy Kinard (Dover, PA/Dover Area) to finish 1:47.52 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Keating herself came home with second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:44.95. Sophomore
Emilie Detweiler (Muncy, PA/Hughesville) and senior
Kyleigh Smeltzer (York, PA/Northeastern) finished second and third in the 100-yard breaststroke. Detweiler finished with a time of 1:18.05, while Smeltzer was right behind her with a 1:18.19 time.
The Colonels host their first home event of the season on Saturday, November 9 at 1:00 p.m in the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center against Marywood University.
