Wilkes Men's Swimming Fourth after Diamond City Invitational Day 1

WILKES-BARRE, PA – The Wilkes University men's swimming team stands fourth of 11 teams after day one of the 2019 Diamond City Invitational hosted by King's College at the Wyoming Valley CYC. The Colonels scored 611 team points through 12 of the 18 events over the two day invitational.

Saturday's first session consisted of the 200 Freestyle Relay, 500 Freestyle, 200 IM, 50 Freestyle, and the 400 Medley Relay.

The team of Joseph Antolick (Ringtown, PA/North Schuylkill), Keith Nissen (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia), Justin Burda (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic), and Nick Martino (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) placed fourth of 18 teams to score 52 points as the foursome finished the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:31.05. The 400 Medley Relay team of Timothy Sechler-Stone (Allentown, PA/Salisbury), Trey Harloff (Apex, NC/Apex Friendship), Burda, and Martino placed fourth of 15 teams to garner 52 points with a time of 3:47.05.

In the 200 IM it was Antolick who placed third out of 30 swimmers with a time of 2:05.48 to earn Wilkes 27 points. Harloff took fifth in the same event to earn 23 points with his 2:05.85.

Martino placed ninth out of 54 swimmers in the 50 Freestyle race with a time of 23:27 to earn the Colonels 20 points.

Session two in the evening consisted of 200 Medley Relay, 400 IM, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke, and 800 Freestyle.

Antolick, Harloff, Burda, and Martino took the silver with a second place finish out of 17 teams in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:40.84 to score 56 points.

Burda placed fourth out of 30 swimmers in the 100 Butterfly to score 26 points with a time of 54:88. Shane Miller (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) finished 10th with a 57:24 to add 17 more points.

Antolick took bronze with a third out of 33 swimmers in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:48.96.

In the 100 Breaststroke a silver was earned by Harloff as he was runner-up out of 36 swimmers with a time of 1:02.33 to earn 28 points.

Sechler-Stone also earned silver as he placed second of 26 in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 57.69 to score 28 points. Martino placed seventh to earn 23 points with a 59.75. Jacob Wessner (Auburn, PA/Blue Mountain) was 10th to earn 17 points with a 1:00.08.

The 800 Freestyle team of Harloff, Nissen, Sechler-Stone, and Antolick placed fifth of 11 teams with a time of 7:48.11 to finish the night with 50 points.

The Colonels will close out the 2019 Diamond Invitational tomorrow with the final six events starting at 10:00 a.m.
