Wilkes Men's Basketball Claims Decisive Victory Over Marywood
SCRANTON, PA – The Wilkes University Colonels traveled over to Scranton to face off against the Pacers in an in-state showdown Wednesday night.
The Colonels (6-1) took control of the game midway through the first half and never looked back on their way to a 89-76 victory over the Pacers (3-6).
The Pacers jumped out to an early lead, taking an 8-0 lead off of a series of Colonels turnovers. The Colonels clawed back into a lead with a 16-4 run thanks to four three-pointers from four Colonels. The Colonels built their lead to as much as 19 points at multiple points late in the half, and went into the intermission with a 49-38 lead.
A couple of three-pointers early in the second half allowed the Pacers to close within six points of the Colonels, but a quick 5-0 run thanks to senior guard
Mark Mullins (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) ended that rally. The Colonels would never look back in the game, controlling the period and finishing out the night with an 89-76 advantage over the Pacers.
Sophomore forward
Jake Robel (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) posted a career-high in both points and blocks in the game, scoring 19 points while shooting 9-of-9 from the field and earning four blocks respectively. Mullins earned a double-double, claiming 18 points and 10 rebounds on the night. Sophomore guard

Rob Pecorelli (Huntington, NY/Harborfields) netted 12 points and 8 assists on the evening.
The Colonels return home for their last home game before the New Year on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. against Messiah College. The teams have a 1-1 series record in the live stats era.
