200 Free Relay Win Pushes Wilkes Women's Swimming Past Lycoming
WILLIAMSPORT, PA – A victory in the final event of the day propelled the Wilkes University women's swimming team to a 96-89 victory against host Lycoming College on Saturday in the final dual meet before the New Year. The 200 Freestyle Relay victory was the Colonels sixth of the 12-event meet.
Wilkes improved to 3-4 overall and picked up its first victory against a Middle Atlantic Conference opponent on the season to improve to 1-2 against league foes.

Wilkes trailed 89-85 heading into the final race, the 200 Free Relay. A victory would give the Colonels the meet win and they did just that when the team of
Abby Keating (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove Area),
Tricia Bartosh (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall),
Jessica Turnitza (Cumbola, PA/Pottsville Area), and
Alexa Crossgrove (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area) swam a 1:51.28 to earn the 11 points. Lycoming's team swam a 2:02.51 but were also disqualified.
Crossgrove won two individual events for Wilkes as well. She took first in the 1000 Freestyle to earn nine points with a time of 11:32.99. She also won the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:45.29.
Keating also had two individual wins. The junior won the 200 IM with a time of 2:25.32 and the 100 Butterfly as she finished in 1:07.49.
Maddy Kinard (Dover, PA/Dover Area) also provided Wilkes with nine points as the freshman won the 100 Backstroke race with a time of 1:06.69.
The Colonels return to the pool on Saturday, January 12 at 1:00 p.m. when they host Misericordia University at the Wyoming Valley CYC.
