Wilkes Men's Swimming: MAC Championships Day 2
York, PA – The Wilkes University men's swimming team made the podium and broke more program records during day two of the 2019 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center on Friday.
Results
The day started with preliminary rounds in the morning and
Trey Harloff (Apex, NC/Apex Friendship) qualified for the B final as he finished in 10
th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:02.68 to break his own program record.
Three Colonels qualified for the 50 Freestyle B final in
Jared Byrne (Pequea, PA/Penn Manor),
Joseph Antolick (Ringtown, PA/North Schuylkill) and
Nick Martino (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin). Byrne touched the wall in 21.85 to qualify in 10
th as he also broke his own program record from earlier this season. Antolick and Martino placed in 15
th and 16
th respectively during the prelims.
In the evening session, Harloff won the B final by again besting his own record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.75 to finish in ninth overall and earn Wilkes nine points.
Byrne placed second in the B final (10
th overall) with a time of 21.94 in the 50 Freestyle to earn the navy and gold seven points while Martino made 14
th (22.26) and Antolick 15
th (22.30) to combine for five more Colonel points.
Wilkes would set one more program record on the evening, this time in the 200 Freestyle Relay, when Martino,
Justin Burda (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic), Antolick and Byrne finished in seventh with a time of 1.28.14 to earn their team 24 points.
Wilkes currently sits in sixth place out of 12 teams after two days of competition. The Colonels will get back in the water tomorrow, Saturday, February 16
th, at 10:00 a.m. for more preliminary rounds before finals continue at 6:00 p.m.
