Wilkes Men's Swimming Drops Meet to King's
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's swimming team fell 133-72 on Saturday at King's College. Justin Burda (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) earned a win in the 200 Fly while there were several second place finishes on the day.
The defeat knocks the Colonels to 7-3 overall and 4-2 in the Middle Atlantic Conference.
Results
Wilkes began the meet by winning the 200 Medley Relay with the team of Timothy Sechler-Stone (Allentown, PA/Salisbury), Trey Harloff (Apex, NC/Apex Friendship), Justin Burda (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) and Nick Martino (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) narrowly edging out a King's team by 18 hundredths of a second.
Joseph Antolick (Ringtown, PA/North Schuylkill) finished in second in the 200 Freestyle (1:52.16) before taking third place in the 100 Freestyle later in the day.
Jared Byrne (Pequea, PA/Penn Manor) earned a pair of second place individual finishes on the afternoon as he touched the wall 28 hundredths of a second after the winner in the 50 Freestyle before coming in second in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:05.46.
After being a part of the winning Medley Relay team Harloff picked up two second place finishes of his own, first in the 200 IM (2:03.43) by beating his old program record of 2:05.30, followed by another in the 200 Breaststroke (2:22.01).
Burda's individual victory came in the 200 Fly as he touched the wall in 2:07.34 to win by less than a second and earn the navy and gold nine points.
Sechler-Stone would add another second place finish in the 200 Backstroke before Wilkes ended the meet with a second place showing in the 200 Freestyle Relay as Antolick, Burda, Martino and Byrne ended the race with a time of 1:32.50.
The Colonels now shift their focus to the MAC Championships on February 14th-17th in York, Pa.
