Carlini Surpasses 500 Saves in Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Loss to FDU-Florham
MADISON, NJ – Junior goalkeeper
Sarah Carlini (Collegeville, PA/Pope John Paul II) became just the second player in Wilkes University women's lacrosse history to surpass 500 career saves on Saturday as the Colonels dropped their season finale to Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) opponent FDU-Florham 17-2.
Carlini made 17 saves in the game to finish her junior year with 208 saves to bring her career total to 502, second on the all-time list. Her .499 save percentage this season is the single-season record in program history.
Wilkes opened the scoring with a goal just 2:15 into the game when
Sierra Duman (Smyrna, DE/Smyrna) scored her 19th of the season off
Camryn Devitt's (Northampton, PA/Northampton) sixth assist.
The Devils then scored the next 16 goals before
Domenica Lerch (Northampton, PA/Northampton) notched the 30th goal of her freshman season to stop the run with 18:16 left on the second half clock.
Duman and Lerch each collected five draws while
Kyra Boccio (Dingmans Ferry, Pa./Delaware Valley) added three as the Colonels led the Devils 13-8 in draw controls.
Caroline Pape led FDU-Florham with eight points on six goals and two assists.
Wilkes finished the season with a 6-9 overall record and 0-7 against MAC Freedom competition. FDU-Florham improved to 9-7 overall and to will continue its season after earning the No. 2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament after going 6-1 in league games.
