Season Opening Third Place for Wilkes Women's Cross Country at Misericordia Invitational
DALLAS, PA – The Wilkes University women's cross country team opened its 2019 season on Friday evening at the Misericordia Invitational. The Colonels placed third out of seven teams for their best result at the event since 2014.
The five Colonel scorers totaled 116 points for the third-place finish in the 4k race at Letterkenny Field.

Mia Hensil (East Berlin, PA/Bermudian Springs) led the Colonels in 20th place out of 65 total runners with a time of 17.47.3. Junior
Autumn Pedron (Pottsville, PA/Minersville) also broke the 18-minute mark with a time of 17:58.8 in 21st place.
Senior
Caroline Rickard (Orwigsburg, PA/Blue Mountain) (24th, 18:41.5), sophomore
Sara Ross (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) (25th, 19:03.8) and sophomore
Mia Walker (Matawan, NJ/Matawan Regional) (26th, 19:24.8) rounded out the scorers for Wilkes.
Senior
Kaitlin Sutton (Shavertown, PA/Lake Lehman) placed 27th in 19:32.2 and sophomore
Sydney Rochette (Colchester, CT/Academy of Aerospace and Engineering) was 28th with a time of 19:38.6. Senior
Jill Weston (South Canaan, PA/Western Wayne) (20:39.4), sophomore
Arianna Ryan (Brockton, PA/Tamaqua) (20:55.1) and freshman
Alexa Boersma (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) (21:16.9) rounded out the Colonel runners.
The University of Scranton placed first overall with 30 team points.
The Colonels are back on the course on Sunday, September 15 when they compete at the Queensborough Invitational in Bayside, N.Y. at 10:00 a.m.
