Wilkes Women's Golf Goes 1-0-1 at King's Tri-Match
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's golf team picked up a win and a tie at the King's College tri-match with Misericordia University Saturday afternoon at the Wyoming Valley Country Club. The teams played on the white tees with a distance of 5,809 yards.
Wilkes posted a 3.5-0.5 victory over the host Monarchs before settling for a 2-2 tie with Misericordia in the other match of the day.
Wilkes saw three players post victories in the Colonels win over King's as
Sarah Sorber (Hunlock Creek, PA/Northwest Area) took her match 8&7,
Cassidy Taylor (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West) 7&5 and
Gwen MacConnell (Great Bend, PA/Blue Ridge) 8&7.
Sorber and MacConnell were the two winners in the match against Misericordia as Sorber bested Madeline Wharton 2-up and MacConnell defeated Dani Clifford 6&4.
Wilkes is back on the course next Saturday with a dual match against the University of Scranton at the Scranton Municipal Golf Course starting at 1:00 p.m.
