Wilkes Basketball Begins Second Half of MAC Freedom Play Hosting Eastern
 
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's and women's basketball teams will begin the second half of Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play Saturday when they host the Eastern University Eagles on Hall of Fame Day at the Marts Center. The women's game will begin at 12:00 p.m. while the men follow at 2:00 p.m.

Women's Preview:
Wilkes enters Saturday's contest with an overall 8-10 record and a 2-5 conference record after battling with Delaware Valley University on Wednesday, emerging victorious by a 66-57 final.
 
Maddie Kelley (Dallas, PA/Dallas) led the Colonels with a season-high 25 points. The junior guard ranks first on the team with 9.1 points-per-game (ppg) which ranks among the MAC Freedom top-25. Macy Berryman (Stroudsburg, PA/Pocono Mountain East) put up 10 points and takes the eighth spot on the MAC Freedom top-25 in three-point field goals averaging 1.8 per-game.
 
Senior center Gianna Roberts (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke) put seven points on the board while Brianna Horton (Verona, NJ/Verona) contributed six. Horton also ranks on the MAC Freedom top-25 rebounding list with an average of 5.2 along with assists, averaging 1.9. Alyssa Alfano (Dunmore, PA/Holy Cross) ranks second on the team with 26 total assists.
 
Wilkes ranks seventh in scoring offense with 55.1 ppg and fourth in scoring defense with 61.3 ppg.
 
Eastern enters with a 9-9 overall record, 4-3 record in conference play.
 
Minika Glenn leads the Eagles in scoring at 14.7 ppg and ranks sixth in the conference in scoring and top-25 for rebounding. Jaelyn Harris follows close behind at 12.5 ppg and also ranks among the top-25 in the conference for scoring.
 
The Eagles rank fifth in scoring offense with 62.2 ppg and third in scoring defense with 60.8 ppg.
 
Eastern holds the 19-2 lead in the series against Wilkes dating back to the 2009-2010 season including a 65-48 victory in St. Davids, Pa. on January 17th.
 
Men's Preview:
Wilkes enters Saturday's contest with a 9-9 overall record and 2-5 in MAC Freedom play after a 76-65 win on Wednesday night at Delaware Valley University.
 
Senior guard Rob Pecorelli (Huntington, NY/Harborfields) put up 32 points against the Aggies and ranks first on the team with points, averaging 17.9 ppg. Pecorelli ranks top-five on the MAC Freedom overall scoring list, while also taking the second slot in the assists category, averaging 4.3.
 
Drake Marshall (Gainesville, VA/Patriot) contributed a career-high 15 points against Delaware Valley and ranks on the top-25 MAC Freedom blocked shots list, averaging 0.3. Jake Robel (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) put up another 15 points on the Aggies and ranks in conference stats as well, taking the tenth spot in rebounding, with an average of 5.8. Donovan Breeding (Manassas, VA/Osbourn) is third on the team and 17th in the conference with 22 made three-pointers.
 
The Colonels lead the conference in scoring offense averaging 77.9 ppg and are fifth in scoring defense with 74.1 ppg.
 
Eastern enters the matchup with an 11-7 overall record and a 6-1 MAC Freedom record to lead the conference at the halfway point.
 
Draig Ruff leads the Eagles in scoring averaging 12.7 ppg. Ruff takes the tenth spot in scoring in conference overall stats and seventh in assists averaging 2.9. Michael Bowlers does not fall far behind with 12.3 ppg but ranks fourth with rebounding in the conference averaging 7.7.
 
Eastern ranks seventh in scoring offense with 68.9 ppg and second in scoring defense with 68.7 ppg.
 
The Eagles hold an 11-10 lead in the series against Wilkes dating back to the 2010-2011 season including a 67-62 win over the Colonels in St, Davids Pa. on January 17th.
