Wilkes Men's Swimming: 2020 MAC Championships Day 1
YORK, PA – The Wilkes University men's swimming team began the four-day 2020 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships Thursday at the Graham Aquatic Center in York, Pa. coming away with 122 team points for seventh place after Day 1.

200 Medley Relay
The night ended with the Colonels 200 Medley Relay "A" Team consisting of
Joseph Antolick (Ringtown, PA/North Schuylkill),
Trey Harloff (Apex, NC/Apex Friendship),
Justin Burda (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic), and
Nick Martino (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) earning a podium finish of seventh with a new school record of 1:38.64. The finish earned Wilkes 46 team points. Antolick also led off the relay by setting the new team record for the 50 Backstroke with a time of 25.67.
The Colonels "B" Team of
Jacob Wessner (Auburn, PA/Blue Mountain),
Timothy Sechler-Stone (Allentown, PA/Salisbury),
Shane Miller (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), and
Keith Nissen (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) placed fourth among the B teams to earn Wilkes 20 more points. They finished with a time of 1:42.59.
200 IM
Harloff won the B Final of the 200 IM with a new school record time of 2:00.14 to edge out his previous record from the 2019 MAC Championships. Harloff scored 20 team points for the Colonels with his overall ninth place finish. In the morning prelim Harloff qualified for the B Final in 11th with a time of 2:02.04.
Nissen placed second in the C Final and 18th overall with a time of 2:10.05 in the 200 IM to earn Wilkes seven points.
Cameron Aspey (Dover, PA/Dover Area) was fourth in the C Final and 20th overall with a time of 2:13.21 to score five points. Nissen went 2:11.31 and Aspey went 2:15.67 in the morning prelims.
50 Freestyle
Antolick swam to a runner-up in the B Final of the 50 Freestyle for tenth overall with a time of 22.12 for 17 team points. He qualified in 11th during the morning prelim with a 22.21. Martino was also a runner-up as he took second in the C Final for 18th overall, finishing in 22.72 for seven points. Martino was tied for 17th in the prelim with a sprint of 22.52.
Other Prelims
The preliminary morning session started with Miller and
Liam White (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas High School) setting personal-best times in the 500 Freestyle with times of 5:11.34 and 5:35.97 respectively.
In the 50 Freestyle prelims Nissen just missed out on advancing to the night C Final as he timed in at 23:04 for 25th out of 49 swimmers. Wessner finished in 23.90 and
Christian Mavus (Nanticoke, PA/Greater Nanticoke) came to the wall in 24.51.
Next Up
The Colonels will return to the pool at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow (Friday) for Day 2 prelims of the 400 IM, 100 Butterfly, and 200 Freestyle. The Finals will begin at 6:00 p.m. for those three events and the 200 Freestyle Relay and 400 Medley Relay.
