YORK, PA – The Wilkes University women's swimming team continued its trek through the four-day 2020 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships Saturday at the Graham Aquatic Center in York, Pa. The Colonels are currently eighth of 13 teams with 317 total points after day three.

800 Freestyle Relay
The team of Jessica Turnitza (Cumbola, PA/Pottsville Area), Maddy Kinard (Dover, PA/Dover Area), Tricia Bartosh (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall), and Deanna Wadzin (Sugar Notch, PA/Hanover Area) finished 10th in the 800 Freestyle A Relay with a time of 8:42.76 to earn Wilkes 40 points.
 
200 Butterfly
Abby Keating (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove Area) won the B Final of the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:19.38 to place ninth overall and earn the Colonels 20 points. The junior slid into the B Final of the 200 Butterfly with a morning prelim swim of 2:25.93 for 16th of 29 swimmers.
 
100 Backstroke
Kinard placed sixth in the C Final of the 100 Backstoke and 22nd overall with a time of 1:05.11 to earn three points. The freshman slotted into the C Final with an 18th-place qualifying effort in the prelims of the 100 Backstroke with a 1:04.45.
 
100 Breaststroke
Detweiler won the C Final of the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:13.64 to place 17th overall and earn the team nine points. Kyleigh Smeltzer (York, PA/Northeastern) placed fifth in the same race to place 21st overall with a time of 1:15.05 to earn Wilkes another four points.
 
Detweiler and Smeltzer made the C Final for the 100 Breaststroke during the prelims. Detweiler placed 17th with a 1:13.63 and Smeltzer was 22nd with a 1:15.55.
 
Other Prelims
Bartosh placed 26th of 39 swimmers in the 100 Backstroke prelims with a time of 1:07.22.
 
Julia Rostron (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area) was 27th of 32 swimmers during the prelims for the 100 Breaststroke as she finished in 1:17.24.
 
Time Trial
Keating recorded a time of 26.04 in a 50 Freestyle Time Trial during the morning session.
 
Next Up
The Colonels return to the pool at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow (Sunday) for the final day of the 2020 MAC Championships. The morning will feature the prelims of the 100 Freestyle, 200 Backstroke, 200 Breaststroke and Finals of the 1650 Freestyle. The night session will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the other Final of the 1650 Free and be followed by Finals of the 100 Free, 200 Back, and 200 Breast before the night ends with the 400 Freestyle Relay.
