• The Wilkes University wrestling team closes its dual-match season Friday night at the Marts Center for Senior Night as the Colonels host King's College at 7:00 p.m. Kyle Medrow (West Chester, PA/West Chester Henderson) and Cole Walters (Mifflintown, PA/Juniata) will be recognized prior to the match. Then on Sunday the Colonels will send 14 grapplers to the Northeast/Mideast Futures Tournament in Allentown, Pa. for a 9:00 a.m. end of the season tournament.
 
• The Colonels saw a four-match win streak end last Friday during a 41-6 loss to No. 16 Ithaca College at the Marts Center.
 
• The Colonels defeated Scranton in road dual match February 9th by a 22-14 score by taking six of the 10 bouts. Jack Bauer (Ringoes, NJ/Hunterdon Central) (133), Medrow (141), Liam Flaherty (Needmore, PA/Southern Fulton) (157), and John Devito (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) (174) all won by major decision.
 
• Wilkes defeated Penn College on January 31st by a 30-11 score in a road dual match. Medrow and Moustafa Almeky (Shavertown, PA/Dallas) (197) won by fall.
 
• The Colonels went 2-1 hosting the John Reese Duals on January 26th. Wilkes fell to No. 19 RIT before defeating Penn State Behrend 51-6 and Oneonta 24-19. Roger Horton (Towanda, Pa./Athens) (285) sealed the Colonels win against Oneonta with a decision victory.
 
• The Colonels placed fifth of seven teams at the 2020 Middle Atlantic Conference Championship on January 18th. Eight grapplers placed in Medrow (141) second, Devito (174) third, Almeky (197) third, Cody Dix (Egg Harbor, NJ/Egg Harbor Township) (149) fourth, Max Shaffer (Doylestown, PA/Archbishop Wood) (141) fifth, J. Bauer (133) sixth, Flaherty (157) sixth, and Xavier Barber (Shavertown, PA/Dallas) (165) sixth.
 
• Wilkes went 1-4 at the Budd Whitehill Duals on January 10-11. Devito went 4-1 individually and R. Horton compiled a 3-1 record.
 
• The Colonels defeated Hunter 47-6 on January 8th. Nicholas Bauer (Coplay, PA/Wyoming Seminary) (125) and J. Bauer won by fall.
 
• Dylan O'Connor (Somerset, NJ/Bishop George Ahr) at 141-pounds and R. Horton at 285 went 2-2 at the 87th annual Wilkes Open on December 22nd.
 
• Devito earned runner-up at 174-pounds after going 4-1 at the Messiah Petrofes Invitational on December 6th and 7th. Dix finished seventh at 149-pounds and Almeky placed eighth at 197-pounds.
 
• The Colonels went 1-3 at the Scotty Wood Duals on November 23rd. Wilkes defeated Kent State Tuscarawas 54-6 in the opening bout before dropping matches to Central, Gettysburg and the host Muhlenberg. N. Bauer went 4-0 on the day while Shaffer and Devito were 3-1.
 
• Wilkes split a tri-match at Delaware Valley on November 16th as the Colonels defeated the host Aggies 28-19 before falling to York (PA) 26-9. Flaherty won both of his matches on the day.
 
• The Colonels defeated Alvernia on the road 28-12 by taking six of the 10 bouts on November 13th. Flaherty, Devito and Brady Mitchell (Bowdoin, ME/Mount Ararat) (184) all won by fall.
 
• Wilkes placed in a tie for ninth of 12 teams at the Ned McGinley Invitational hosted by King's on November 9th. N. Bauer placed fifth at 125-pounds. Flaherty and Almeky placed sixth at 157-pounds and 197-pounds respectively.
 
• The Colonels opened the season with a 34-15 victory over Lackawanna at the Marts Center. N. Bauer and Jason DeBoard (Avoca, PA/Pittston) (165) won by fall in the match.
 
• The Colonels 2019-20 roster goes 27 deep with a class breakdown of: 2 seniors; 5 juniors; 9 sophomores; and 11 freshmen.
 
• The roster features athletes from five states: Pennsylvania - 12; New Jersey - 11; New York - 2; Virginia - 1; Maine – 1
