Wilkes Men's Basketball Falls to FDU-Florham Three Point Barrage on Senior Day
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's basketball team welcomed the FDU-Florham Devils for their final game of the season at the Marts Center for Senior Day. The Devils came in looking for a victory to clinch a bid to the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) tournament.
The Colonels (11-14, 4-10 MACF) fell to the Devils (12-13, 7-7) 94-78, with the Devils shooting 22-of-45 from beyond the arc.
The Colonels found themselves on the opposite end of 10 Devils three-pointers in the first half. Graduate guard
Brady Wing (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) helped Wilkes out to an early 8-3 lead after sinking a three-pointer. The Devils replied with a 8-0 run to take the lead, and the Colonels would find themselves playing from behind for most of the last three-quarters of the first half. They would cut the FDU-Florham lead to 44-40 heading into the locker room after a 8-2 Colonel run.
The Colonels hung tough with the Devils early in the second half, but FDU-Florham took over the last 15 minutes. A 12-3 run put the Devils up by 12, and FDU-Florham finished the last five minutes of the game on a 14-6 run to send them to the conference playoffs and send the Colonels home with a loss.
