WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's ice hockey team finished its second season of competition with a 3-0 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) loss to visiting Stevenson University at the Toyota SportsPlex Saturday. The Colonels stayed in the game with the MAC champion Mustangs until two third period goals gave Stevenson breathing room late.

Wilkes finished the season with a 5-17-1 overall record and were 4-4-0 in MAC competition to place third of the five teams. Stevenson finished the regular season with an 11-8-3 overall record and a perfect 8-0-0 record in the MAC to win the championship. The Mustangs will continue play in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) tournament next week.

Kalijo Zagula broke the tie at the 9:40 mark of the second period off assists from Karly Aguirre and Paige Sullivan to give Stevenson the lead. Kendall Miller would add to the lead 6:14 into the third period and the Mustangs would add an insurance goal at the 10:10 mark of the third to produce the 3-0 final score.

Abigail Barcless (Hamilton, NJ) led the Colonels with four shots on goal and three blocked shots. Joining Barcless with three blocks were Abby Miller (Webster, NY) and Brianna Stanton (Kenai, AK) as Wilkes totaled 20 blocked shots. Shauna Tubbs (Maumee, OH) was strong in the faceoff circle as she won 12-of-18 attempts.
