SCRANTON, PA – The Wilkes University wrestling team collected its tenth victory of the dual match season winning six of ten bouts against host the University of Scranton as the Colonels posted a 22-14 victory Sunday afternoon at the Long Center.
 
Wilkes moved to 10-9 overall in dual matches on the season with two more contests left this year.
 
Scranton took an early 3-0 lead claiming a 3-0 decision at 125-pounds to start the match. Wilkes responded winning the next four bouts including three extra-point victories. Jack Bauer (Ringoes, NJ/Hunterdon Central) earned a major decision (8-0) at 133 followed by another major decision win from Kyle Medrow (West Chester, PA/West Chester Henderson) (10-2) at 141. Dylan O'Connor (Somerset, NJ/Bishop George Ahr) posted a 7-1 decision at 149 before Liam Flaherty (Needmore, PA/Southern Fulton) ended the Wilkes scoring rally with a 14-2 major decision at 157 to give the Colonels a 15-3 advantage after five bouts.
 
John Devito (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) continued his fine rookie campaign with an 11-3 major decision at 174 and Moustafa Almeky (Shavertown, PA/Dallas) finished off the Colonels scoring in the match with a 7-1 decision at 197.
 
Wilkes returns home for a dual match against Ithaca College on Friday at 7:00 p.m. in the Marts Center.
