Burda Breaks Wilkes Men's Swimming 200 Fly Record to Close Season

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Wilkes University men's swimming junior Justin Burda (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) represented the team at the 2020 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Open Swimming and Diving Championships this weekend at the U.S. Naval Academy and closed out the 2019-20 season for the Colonels on Sunday morning. Burda broke his own school record during the 200 Butterfly preliminaries.

Burda competed against swimmers from all NCAA divisions in the 200 Butterfly. He bested his previous school record by nearly three seconds by swimming under two minutes for the first time. Burda finished with a 1:59.20 to overtake his 2:02.09 that he set at the 2020 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships.

Burda also competed in a 100 Butterfly time trial at the close of the morning session as he tried one more time to better the record of 52.35 that he tied yesterday. He finished with a time of 53.22 today.

He qualified for the ECAC Championships on February 1st when he swam an A Cut time of 53.89 in the 100 Fly during the Colonels meet against King's at the Wyoming Valley CYC. He also had swam a B Cut time in the 200 Butterfly this season to allow him to compete in today's event.
