Wizar '16 Lands Position with Boston Scientific

WILKES-BARRE – Wilkes University men's basketball alum Alec Wizar (Lebanon, PA/Annville Cleona) '16 has secured a position with Boston Scientific where he will work as a Clinical Specialist for the corporation.

In his position, Wizar will provide sales support, clinical in-service and educate patients on the process of spinal cord stimulation. He will also provide case/procedural support in clinical environments and work to assist the surgeon with trial & permanent implants, while programming SCS devices to the optimal level for patient pain relief. Spinal Cord stimulators are implanted devices in the lower back that send low levels of electricity directly into the spinal cord to relieve pain.

Wizar, a four-year standout on the Colonels basketball team where he finished with 1,205 points including 249 made three-pointers (3rd all-time), was a Second Team All-MAC Freedom selection his senior season leading the squad to the championship game.

"I would not have had this opportunity without support from the Wilkes basketball alumni network," said Wizar. "Coach Metz and Coach Rickrode both put me in contact with another Wilkes basketball alumni (Brian Gryboski '99) who has worked for the company Boston Scientific for years. He just happened to be hiring for this position in the Philadelphia area and both of their recommendations went a long way – which ultimately led to an interview opportunity. I'm very grateful for the opportunity and I'm excited to start my career with such a strong company, and it wouldn't have been possible without the relationships that I built during my 4 years at Wilkes – both on and off the court."

Wizar, who earned his degree in Communications/Public Relations, spent several years as an Admissions Counselor at Wilkes following graduation.
