Wilkes Women's Cross Country Places Strong Fifth of 17 Teams at Inter-Regional Border Battle

LOGAN TWP. N.J. – The Wilkes University women's cross country team placed a strong fifth of 17 teams in the 6k Open Division at the 2021 Inter-Regional Border Battle hosted by Rowan University at DREAM Park Saturday.

Results

Wilkes scored 173 team points among its top five finishers in the race that featured 150 total runners.

Junior Sara Ross (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) paced the Colonels finishing 27th overall with a time of 25:59.6. First year Alyse Fay (Verona, PA/Oakland Catholic) followed in 33rd with a 26:26.9. First year Courtney Negra (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) recorded a personal best time of 26:57.5 to place 41st and junior Mia Walker (Matawan, NJ/Matawan Regional) had a season best time of 27:23.1 in 52nd place. First year Regan Metz (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) rounded out the Colonels to score as she placed 54th with a personal best time of 27:24.9.

Sophomore Mia Hensil (East Berlin, PA/Bermudian Springs) placed 65th with a time of 27:55.2 and junior Sydney Rochette (Colchester, CT/Academy of Aerospace and Engineering) was 79th with a time of 28:43.5. First year Amy Agreda (Shelton, CT/Shelton) followed in 82nd with a finishing time of 28:54.2. First year Devon Catrambone (Glenmoore, PA/Downingtown East) completed her first 6k of the season with a 30:22.6 and in 103rd.

First year Abby Kuppinger (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) (111th, 31:16.9), sophomore Alexa Boersma (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) (119th, 32:16.3), and junior Arianna Ryan (Brockton, PA/Tamaqua) (123rd, 32:28.1) followed. First year Christina Colosimo (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) set a new personal best time with a 38:12.2 in 144th. First year Naomi Michel (Macungie, PA/Emmaus) was 146th with a time of 39:31.9.

Johns Hophins won the team title in the Open Division with 20 team points while Bryce Hopper of SUNY-ESF was the overall winner with a 23:13.7.

The Colonels return to the course in less than a week when they travel to Lebanon Pa. for the LVC Last Chance Run Invitational at Union Canal Tunnel Park on Friday.
