Wilkes Men's Soccer Falls 2-1 in Conference Matchup Overtime
EDWARDSVILLE, PA – The Wilkes University Colonels hosted the King's Monarchs for a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom crosstown battle.
The Colonels (10-5, 3-2 MACF) fell after the Monarchs (6-5-1, 4-1) got a penalty kick goal off of a called handball at the 95:48 mark.
Each team needed a regulation goal. First year
Lucas Mueller (Dusseldorf, Germany/Quirinus- Gynasium) chipped a shot past the King's goaltender at 55:48 with an assist from senior
Danny McGinley (Brodheadsville, PA/Pleasant Valley), while King's managed to force overtime at 80:48 after a breakaway. King's outshot Wilkes 14-12, while senior goalkeeper
Zach Tone (Easton, PA/Easton Area) recorded five saves.
The Colonels return to action as they travel to Stevens to continue MAC Freedom play this upcoming Saturday. Stevens leads the live stats era series 3-0, and won the last version of the meeting in 2019.
