Wilkes Field Hockey Season Concludes with Hard-Fought 2-1 Loss against Misericordia
EDWARDSVILLE, PA – The Wilkes University field hockey squad entered Wednesday night's contest out of contention for the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom playoffs, but played potential top seed Misericordia tooth and nail at Schmidt Stadium.
The Colonels (4-12, 3-4 MACF) fell 2-1 after being unable to find a tying goal after the Cougars (12-5, 6-1) took the lead late in the third quarter.

Ali Dunn (Pittston, PA/Pittston). The Colonels had several opportunities in the Cougars zone late in the fourth quarter after a Cougars goal at 41:36 and held Misericordia to a single shot in the period, but were unable to get a shot for a chance to send it to overtime.
Sophomore
Carly Eidle (East Greenville, PA/Upper Perkiomen) stood tall in goal with 12 saves on 14 shots faced in the loss. The Colonels made the most of their shots with four of their five on goal. The Cougars outshot the Colonels 20-5 on the evening.
The Colonels have wrapped up regular season play for the 2021 season with a fifth-place finish in MAC Freedom play. The Cougars will go on to host FDU-Florham in the first round of the MAC Freedom playoffs, while Stevens earned top billing in the conference postseason and will host Arcadia. Both games are scheduled for November 3rd, times to be announced.
