Wilkes Men's Soccer Clinches Postseason Spot with 1-0 Win at DeSales
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Wilkes University men's soccer team concluded the regular season with a 1-0 win at DeSales University in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action on Saturday afternoon.
The Colonels finish the regular slate 5-3-0 in league play and 12-6-0 overall. The 12 regular season wins are the most the team has had since 2006.
Neither team was able to break through over the first 45 as the halftime buzzer sounded to a scoreless tie.
Wilkes broke through in the 63
rd minute when
Lucas Mueller (Dusseldorf, Germany/Quirinus- Gynasium) found the back of the net with an assist from
Colin Schulmeister (Old Saybrook, CT/Old Saybrook).
The Colonels held a 12-10 shot advantage for the game and earned eight corner kicks compared to three for the Bulldogs.
Zach Tone (Easton, PA/Easton Area) made three saves for Wilkes.
The Colonels now await the conclusion of remaining contests, which will determine final seeding and postseason scenarios.
