Wilkes Men's Swimming Earns Hard Fought 89-88 Victory at Marywood
SCRANTON, PA –
Daniel Micozzi (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) and
Liam White (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) came through in the clutch placing second and third in the 200 Breaststroke to finish off the Colonels 89-88 victory over host Marywood University Saturday afternoon.

Micozzi's 2:42.43 and White's 2:49.77 were good enough to earn Wilkes the needed points in the second to last event to clinch the victory. An uncontested 400 Freestyle Relay win for the Colonels in the final event ended the day in the Navy and Gold's favor.
Keith Nissen (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia),
Christian Mavus (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke),
Shane Miller (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), and Micozzi finished the relay in 3:53.18.
Micozzi won the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 12:00.32 topping two Pacer swimmers.
Nissen placed first in the 50 Freestyle with a 24.79 and Wilkes also took second in the field of five with Mavus coming in at 25.56.
Trey Harloff (Apex, NC/Apex Friendship) was the winner out of a field of four swimmers in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:34.27. Nissen placed second with a 5:58.28 ahead of two Marywood swimmers.
Jared Weyandt (Reading, PA/Exeter Township Senior) was runner-up in a field of four in the 200 Freestyle with a finish of 1:58.60 and was also second out of a field of four in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 52.77 coming up just 0.55 seconds from the victory.
Wilkes started the day placing second to Marywood in the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 4:07.69 with Miller, Weyandt, Harloff, and
Mason Thrush (Carlisle, PA/Big Spring) competing.
The Colonels return to the pool on Sunday, November 14 for a tri-match at Lebanon Valley College also including Dickinson College.
