Wilkes Women's Cross Country Places 14th at MAC Championships

CENTER VALLEY, PA – The Wilkes University women's cross country team finished 14th of 17 teams at the 2021 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships Saturday at DeSales University.

The Colonels earned 366 points among its five scoring runners to place 14th in the 6k event. Misericordia won the team title with 68 points. There was a field of 155 total runners as Lauren Wick of Lebanon Valley College earned the MAC Runner of the Year award as the individual champion as she finished with a time of 23:08.3.

First year Alyse Fay (Verona, PA/Oakland Catholic) paced the Colonels contingent, placing 58th overall with a time of 25:59.6. First year Regan Metz (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) recorded a career best time of 26:56.2 in placing 81st. Sophomore Mia Hensil (East Berlin, PA/Bermudian Springs) set a season best time of 27:09.5 to place 88th. Junior Sara Ross (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) was 93rd with a 27:30.3. First year Abby Lewis (Troy, PA/Troy) ran a career best time of 27:40.2 to finish in 97th and round out the Colonels to score.

Seven other Colonels competed at the MAC Championships as first year Courtney Negra (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) was 102nd with a 28:00.0. Junior Mia Walker (Matawan, NJ/Matawan Regional) (111th, 28:15.5), first year Abby Kuppinger (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) (112th, 28:15.6), junior Sydney Rochette (Colchester, CT/Academy of Aerospace and Engineering) (117th, 28:29.1), first year Amy Agreda (Shelton, CT/Shelton) (131st, 29:25.9), junior Victoria Barlow (Ridge, NY/Bishop McGann-Mercy Diocesan) (135th, 29:45.9), and sophomore Alexa Boersma (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) (145th, 31:54.5) rounded out the group.

The Colonels will finish their 2021 season at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Saturday, November 13 hosted by Dickinson College.
