Wilkes Women's Soccer Falls to DeSales Overtime Penalty Kick Goal

CENTER VALLEY, PA – The Colonels traveled to DeSales in the midst of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom playoff race Saturday afternoon.

The Colonels (7-8-2, 3-3-2 MACF) fell to a penalty kick goal from the Bulldogs (13-4-0, 6-2-0) at the 90:57 mark in overtime.

First year defender Madison Straub (Franklin, NJ/Franklin) tallied the first goal of the match with help from senior forward Tatiana Mancera (Miami, FL/Archimedean Upper Conservatory) at the 31:12 mark.  The Bulldogs struck early in the second half with a goal at 51:56, and neither team found the net until the DeSales overtime penalty kick.

The Bulldogs outshot the Colonels 12-1 on goal and 31-4 overall.  Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Landis (Red Hill, PA/Upper Perkiomen) recorded 10 saves in the loss for the Navy and Gold.

The Colonels will return to the MAC Freedom playoffs this upcoming Tuesday night.  They travel as the fifth seed to play fourth-seeded FDU-Florham at 7:00 p.m.  The two squads met earlier this year at Bruggeworth Field, with the game ending in a 2-2 tie.
