Scranton Moves Past Wilkes Field Hockey 7-0

EDWARDSVILLE – The University of Scranton scored three goals in the first half and four more in the second half on way to a 7-0 non-conference victory over host Wilkes University Wednesday night at Schmidt Stadium.

Wilkes slipped to 2-9 overall following the home defeat while Scranton, who is receiving votes in the latest Penn Monto / NFHCA Division III National Coaches' Poll, remained perfect on the season at 10-0.

Scranton scored the game's first goal 7:41 into the first quarter and never looked back controlling most of the contest in its own offensive end. Molly Sheehan added the Royals second goal midway through the second quarter before an Allie Benandon tally made it 3-0 at the break.

Benandon added a second goal early in the third period before Bridget Abraldes notched a hat trick over the final quarter and a half to push the lead to seven.

Scranton held a 28-3 shot advantage while garnering seven penalty corners to Wilkes' one attempt.

Carly Eidle (East Greenville, PA/Upper Perkiomen) finished with her second highest save total of the season making 14 stops.

The Colonels get back into MAC Freedom play Saturday with a matchup against Stevens Institute of Technology at 1:00 p.m. at Schmidt Stadium.
