THE MATCHUP
Wilkes University concludes its regular season schedule traveling across town for the 25th annual Mayor's Cup game at rival King's College (4-5, 3-5 MAC) at 12:00 p.m. Wilkes (6-3, 5-3 MAC) suffered its third defeat of the year falling 30-0 to No. 10 Delaware Valley University last Saturday in its home finale. King's has lost two straight including a 35-10 defeat at Stevenson University last week.

THE HEAD COACHES
Jonathan Drach (Western Michigan '04) was named head coach of the Wilkes University football team on February 8, 2018 becoming the ninth mentor of the program since its inception in 1946. Drach will continue to serve as the offensive coordinator during the 2021 season as well as working with the quarterbacks. Wilkes continued its success under Drach in 2019 when he led the Colonels to an 8-3 overall record, finishing 6-2 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play and earning a postseason berth for the first time since 2010 and the program's first trip to the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series. The eight wins were also the most since 2006 for the program. Drach pioneered one of the biggest turnarounds in Division III football in 2018 when he led the Colonels to a 6-4 record after the team went winless in 2017. Four Colonels were named All-MAC under Drach in 2018 and 2019. Drach came to Wilkes after 11 years at Hobart. As the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, he was instrumental in leading the Statesmen to six Liberty League Conference championships, seven NCAA playoff appearances and three consecutive undefeated regular seasons. Drach coached the Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year in 2007, 2014, 2016 and 2017 and the ECAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2007 and 2016. He also coached seven All-League quarterbacks and a Bill Middleton Memorial Football Award Winner. A native of St. Charles, Ill., Drach earned his bachelor's degree in business finance and economics from Western Michigan University in 2004. A three-year starter, he enjoyed his finest year as a senior, completing a single season record 67 percent of his passes for 1,499 yards and 13 TDs.

Jeff Knarr (East Stroudsburg '94) is in the midst of his 12th season at King's where he owns a 37-63 overall record including a 33-48 mark in MAC contests. Knarr came to King's after serving 11 years as an assistant coach at Muhlenberg where he spent the final four years as offensive coordinator. He was instrumental in helping the Mule program to six Centennial Conference championships and five NCAA Division III National Playoff berths. King's offense has continued to evolve under Knarr as the
Monarchs led the Middle Atlantic Conference in 2016 with 414.8 total yards per-game and 287.3 passing yards each contest. Knarr played two seasons at Fordham University as a free safety before transferring to Western Maryland College where he played his final two years as a linebacker before earning his degree from East Stroudsburg in 1994

THE SERIES
This will be the 34th meeting between the two schools, with Wilkes holding a 22-11 advantage in the series. Wilkes posted a 24-14 victory in 2019 in the team's last meeting. Wilkes also holds a 15-9 lead in Mayor's Cup games since the teams began playing for the cup in 1996. The Mayor's Cup tradition began with former Wilkes-Barre Mayor Thomas McGroarty and has remained intact through today with current Mayor George Brown presiding.
