Harloff Helps Wilkes Men's Swimming to Split Against Dickinson and Lebanon Valley

WILKES-BARRE – Trey Harloff (Apex, NC/Apex Friendship) tied for first in one event and placed second in another to help the Wilkes University men's swimming team to a split against Dickinson College and Lebanon Valley College on Saturday at the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center. Wilkes defeated LVC 94-78 and fell to Dickinson 158.5-32.5.

Wilkes is now 2-2 on the season.

Harloff tied with Justin Wong of Dickinson for first place out of nine swimmers in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:04.14. He also placed second of eight swimmers in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.49.

The 200 Medley Relay team of Shane Miller (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), Jared Weyandt (Reading, PA/Exeter Township Senior), Harloff, and Keith Nissen (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) placed fourth of six teams to open the meet with a time of 1:47.43.

Nissen was fourth of 10 participants in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 24.30. Stephen Verosko (Gainesville, VA/Patriot) was fifth at 24.99 and Christian Mavus (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke) was just a tick behind in sixth at 25.00. All three Colonels placed ahead of three LVC swimmers.

Weyandt took fourth of 10 swimmers in the 100 Freestyle, finishing in 52.99.

The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Mason Thrush (Carlisle, PA/Big Spring), Miller, Nissen, and Daniel Micozzi (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) placed fifth of seven teams with a 1:39.36. Liam White (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas), Verosko, Chris Gowarty (Scranton, PA/West Scranton), and Mavus were sixth at a 1:46.76 in the final event.

The Colonels return to action for a three-day event starting on Friday at the Diamond City Invitational hosted by King's College at 6:00 p.m. Saturday's action will start at 9:00 a.m. and Sunday's at 10:00 a.m. inside the Wyoming Valley CYC.
