Harloff's Efforts Lead Wilkes Men's Swimming on Diamond City Invitational Day Two

WILKES-BARRE, PA – Trey Harloff (Apex, NC/Apex Friendship) picked up fourth and fifth place finishes for the Wilkes University men's swimming team on day two of the Diamond City Invitational hosted by King's College at the Wyoming Catholic Youth Center. Saturday's action consisted of a morning and evening session.

In the morning session the team of Stephen Verosko (Gainesville, VA/Patriot), Daniel Micozzi (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst), Jared Weyandt (Reading, PA/Exeter Township Senior), and Harloff placed seventh of 15 teams in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:34.71 to earn 46 team points. The team of Liam White (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas), Chris Gowarty (Scranton, PA/West Scranton), Christian Mavus (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke), and Mason Thrush (Carlisle, PA/Big Spring) earned 24 additional points as they had a time of 1:46.08.

Harloff was stellar in the 200 IM with a time of 2:06.70 to place fifth in a field of 26 swimmers. That swim earned the Colonels 25 points.

Weyandt was 17th of 45 swimmers in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 23.68 as he earned nine points.

In the 400 Medley Relay, Shane Miller (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), Weyandt, Harloff, and Keith Nissen (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) were ninth of 16 teams with a time of 4:02.58 to earn 40 points. Mavus, Micozzi, White, and Thrush earned 22 points with a time of 4:18.60.

The Colonels were sixth of 10 teams after the morning session with 286 total points.

In the evening Harloff went 55.37 in the 100 Butterfly to earn Wilkes 26 points as he placed fourth of 29 swimmers. In the same race Miller and Nissen earned the Colonels nine and four points.

White earned Wilkes 20 points in the 400 IM while Mavus and Gowarty earned 12 and nine points each in the 100 Backstroke.

In the 200 Freestyle Thrush finished in 2:07.29 to garner nine points.

Weyandt earned six points and Micozzi two in the 100 Breaststroke with times of 1:07.86 and 1:09.48.

The 800 Freestyle Relay team of Harloff, Miller, Verosko, and Nissen finished seventh of 13 teams with a 8:04.09 to end the night with a 46 point effort.

The Colonels stand in seventh after the evening session with 434 team points.

The final day of the Diamond City Invitational is set for tomorrow morning with session four at 10:00 a.m.
