Wilkes Women's Swimming Completes Cougar Splash Invitational

DALLAS, PA – The Wilkes University women's swimming team placed sixth of six teams at the Cougar Splash Invitational hosted by Misericordia University following the final two sessions on Saturday. Wilkes earned 58 team points throughout the two-day event.

The team of Maddy Kinard (Dover, PA/Dover Area), Emilie Detweiler (Muncy, PA/Hughesville), Abby Keating (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove Area), and Kara Foster (Brookville, PA/Brookville Jr. Sr.) earned 10 points by placing eighth of nine teams to open Session 2 during the morning in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 2:11.58.

Kinard placed tenth of 15 swimmers in the 100 Butterfly with a 1:10.44 to earn three points. She finished seventh of 11 participants in the 100 Breaststroke to bring in seven points with a time of 1:22.21. Detweiler was right behind in eighth to earn five more points with a 1:23.94.

Kinard, Keating, Detweiler, and Foster earned 14 points with a time of 10:05.37 in the 800 Freestyle Relay to close out the morning session.

Session 3 in the evening saw the Colonels team of Kinard, Keating, Foster, and Detweiler earn six points in the 400 Freestyle Relay as they finished with a time of 4:27.75.

Keating was 14 in a field of 28 swimmers in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 1:01.54.

Misericordia won the team event with a score of 747 points.

The Colonels will remain idle through the New Year before returning to action on Saturday, January 15 for a dual meet at Misericordia.
