Patterson Scores Twice in Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Loss at Utica
UTICA, N.Y. – Sophomore forward
Julie Patterson (Trenton, NJ) recorded her first career multi-goal game with two tallies as the Wilkes University women's ice hockey team lost 5-2 in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) game at Utica College Saturday evening.
Wilkes dropped to 0-6 overall and in the conference with the loss at the Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. Utica improved to 5-5 overall and to 4-4 in the UCHC with the home win. The Pioneers also completed the two game sweep of the Colonels after winning yesterday at the Toyota SportsPlex.
Utica opened the scoring on the power play at the 15:11 mark of the first period.
Allyson Joly (Lincoln, RI) made 13 saves in the opening period for the Colonels.
The Pioneers added to their lead at the 7:50 mark of the second period with another power play goal. Patterson would answer with her first goal of the season with an assist from junior forward
Shauna Tubbs (Maumee, OH) at the 12:24 mark of the middle period to make the score 2-1. Utica answered back at the 14:59 mark to push its advantage to 3-1 after two periods.
Utica then scored at the 10:33 mark of the third and again shorthanded at 12:50 to build a four-goal lead. Patterson would added her second of the game just nine seconds later on the power play with an assist from first-year forward

Patterson led Wilkes with four shots on goal while first-year forward
Elizabeth Spoon (Arlington, TX) added three. Utica held a 32-12 shots on goal lead and won the faceoff battle 33-16. Junior forward
Laurenne Fraser (Salt Lake City, UT) was 7-for-14 at the dot to lead Wilkes.
Joly made 27 saves for the Colonels while Angela Hawthrone stopped 10 shots to earn the win for the Pioneers. Erica Sloan and Maggie Rylott each recorded three points with one goal and two assists for Utica.
Wilkes returns to the ice on Friday, March 19 at Elmira College for a UCHC contest at 6:00 p.m.
