Wilkes Women's Swimming Places Ninth in MAC Virtual Pentathlon
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's swimming team placed ninth of 10 teams in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Virtual Pentathlon Meet which was completed by teams on March 12th through the 14th. The Colonels completed their swims on Saturday morning at the Wyoming Valley CYC.

Wilkes scored four points to place ninth while Stevens took the team title with 433.5 points. The virtual meet was contested with each team swimming at their own facility and then exchanging results with the other participating teams after the event. The top 24 swimmers in each 100 yard event earned team points. Then the times from all five events were combined together to create an overall Pentathlon time.
Sophomore
Maddy Kinard (Dover, PA/Dover Area) was the top Colonel finisher in the 100 Backstroke with a 23rd place finish out of 75 swimmers to earn two team points. She finished with a time of 1:09.17. She was also the top finisher in the 100 Butterfly, placing 37th of 73 swimmers with a time of 1:10.76.
Sophomore
Alexa Crossgrove (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area) earned Wilkes the other two team points with a 23rd place finish in the 100 Freestyle out of 78 competitors. She completed the swim in 59.99. Crossgrove placed 34th of 76 swimmers in the 100 IM with a time of 1:12.14 to lead Wilkes.
Senior
Abby Keating (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove Area) placed 38th of 76 swimmers in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:23.52 to lead the Colonel contingent.
With all five event times added together for an overall Pentathlon score, it was Kinard who placed highest for the Colonels. Kinard was 37th overall out of the 63 swimmers that completed all five events with a combined time of 6:02.67. Crossgrove was just behind in 38th with a 6:03.58. Keating was 47th (6:14.47), sophomore
Kalyn Lash (Dover, PA/Dover Area ) was 54th (6:28.46), first-year
Rebekah Livermore (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth Area) was 58th (6:41.73), junior
Emilie Detweiler (Muncy, PA/Hughesville) was 59th (7:03.84), and first-year
Kara Foster (Brookville, PA/Brookville Jr. Sr.) was 63rd (8:08.22).
Kate Bernauer of Misericordia was named the Queen of the Pool with a time of 5:29.88.
Wilkes will return to the pool on Saturday, March 20 for a MAC Virtual Dual Meet at 10:00 a.m.
