Wilkes Men's Swimming Places Fifth at MAC Coaches Choice Virtual Invitational
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's swimming team placed fifth of six teams during the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Coaches Choice Virtual Invitational held Friday through Sunday. The Colonels swam on Saturday morning at the Wyoming Valley CYC.
Wilkes placed fifth of the six teams with 121 team points. Stevens won the team event with 411 points.

Senior
Nick Martino (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) led a contingent of seven Colonels in the 50 Freestyle by placing seventh of 18 total swimmers to earn seven team points with a time of 24.33. Sophomore
Keith Nissen (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) placed eighth to earn five points and junior
Daniel Micozzi (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) placed tenth to garner three points.
Martino also earned seven points in the 50 Butterfly with a time of 27.30 to place seventh of 12 swimmers and earned five points in the 100 Freestyle with an eighth-place finish out of 14 swimmers with a time of 56.06.
Nissen earned Wilkes seven points with a seventh-place finish out of 12 swimmers in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:08.12.
Micozzi collected seven points in the 100 Breaststroke with a finish of 1:12.04 and three points in the 200 IM with a time of 2:24.56.
Junior
Shane Miller (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) posted seven points in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:55.88.
Senior
Daniel Mack (Hanover, PA/New Oxford) earned the Colonels five points in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:06.96.
Wilkes placed sixth and seventh in the 200 Freestyle Relay out of eight teams. The team of sophomore

Stephen Verosko (Gainesville, VA/Patriot), sophomore
Mason Thrush (Carlisle, PA/Big Spring), and Nissen earned 18 points in sixth with a time of 1:43.09. Micozzi, Mack, Miller, and Martino were just behind in seventh to earn 14 points with a time of 1:43.24.
The Colonels return to the pool Saturday for another MAC Virtual Meet.
