Wilkes Men's Volleyball Falls at Arcadia
GLENSIDE, PA – The Wilkes University Colonels continued the end stretch of their Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) regular season slate with a trip to face the Arcadia Knights.
The Colonels (0-10) hung tough with the Knights (10-3) but couldn't break past Arcadia as they fell 3-0 (14-25, 26-28, 22-25).
After a first set where the Navy and Gold struggled to find their footing, the Colonels came to life in the second set. Neither team held more than a single point edge until they were tied up at 11 all, when Arcadia went on a 3-0 run to take the largest lead of the set. The Colonels clawed away at the slight edge until they went on a 5-3 run late to force extra points at 24-all. They came within a single point of victory at 26-25, but a 3-0 Knight run ended the set in their factor.
The Colonels hung close in the early going of the third set, until a 5-1 Arcadia run netted the Knights a 13-8 edge. Wilkes responded with a 5-1 run of their own to stay within striking distance at 15-14. The Knights answered back with a 5-2 run, then the Colonels replied with another 5-2 run to put themselves in position to overtake the Knights late down 22-21. Arcadia would finish the set with a 3-1 burst to clinch the match.

Casey Shipman (Hershey, PA/Hershey) stepped up in the role on the night with 16 assists, his season high. First year outside hitter
Jackson Shafer (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) set or tied his career highs in kills (six), aces (two), blocks (two) and digs (four) in the effort.
The Colonels return to the Marts Center Wednesday one last time for a Senior Night matchup against MAC foe Eastern. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., as the Colonels seek to even the season series after a 3-1 loss at Eastern on March 24th.
