WILKES-BARRE, PA – The Wilkes University women's swimming team placed sixth of six teams at the 2021 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Duel in the Pool event held virtually from Friday, March 26 through Sunday, March 28.  The Colonels swam on Saturday morning at the Wyoming Valley CYC.

Wilkes scored 104 team points to place sixth. Misericordia University won the team event with 343 points.

The 200 Medley Relay team of sophomore Alexa Crossgrove (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area), junior Emilie Detweiler (Muncy, PA/Hughesville), sophomore Maddy Kinard (Dover, PA/Dover Area), and first-year Kara Foster (Brookville, PA/Brookville Jr. Sr.) placed fifth of seven teams with a time of 2:11.23 to earn 20 team points.

Crossgrove placed second out of 12 swimmers in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:09.51 to earn 13 points for the team. She also was third out of 18 swimmers in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 26.30 to earn 12 more points and was seventh of 14 participants in the 200 Backstroke with a 2:25.92 to score seven points.

Kinard took a fourth out of 14 swimmers in the 100 Backstroke finishing in 1:07.13 to record 11 points for the team.

The Colonels will remain idle until closing the season at the MAC Championships on April 16-17 for a three session virtual event.
