WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's volleyball squad hosted a pair of matches against Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) foe Stevenson Mustangs Saturday afternoon.
 
The Colonels (0-4, 0-4 MAC) dropped both matches to the Mustangs (4-0, 4-0) 3-0.
 
The first match the Colonels fell 25-9, 25-14, 25-16.  First year middle hitter Paul Binner (Tunkhannock, PA/Tunkhannock) led the Colonels with three blocks, while sophomore outside hitter Zach Evans (Nescopeck, PA/Berwick) led the team with six kills.  Sophomore setter Zach Shay (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) led the squad with 14 assists and two service aces.
 
The Mustangs took down the Colonels in the second match 25-12, 25-15, 25-10.  First year outside hitter Noah Taylor (Lumbertown, NJ/Rancocas Valley Regional) led the team with nine kills.  Shay had 16 assists in the second match.
 
Logan Smiley led the Mustangs in kills in both matches, with 14 in the first and 15 in the second.  He also had a team-leading five aces in the second match.  Grant Nelson had 26 assists in the first match and 29 in the second.
 
The Colonels return to action Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. at the Marts Center.  They host MAC foe Misericordia for a single match on the evening.
