Wilkes Men's Volleyball Concludes 2021 Season at MAC Tournament
DALLAS, PA – The Wilkes University Colonels concluded their 2021 season with one last matchup against Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) foe Misericordia in the first round of the MAC Tournament consolation bracket.
The Colonels (0-14, 0-13) fell in straight sets to the Cougars (8-9. 7-9) 17-25, 14-25, 21-25.
The Navy and Gold struggled to find their footing in the first set, and led 5-3 in the second set before a 7-1 Cougar run put the Colonels in the rearview mirror for the rest of the set. The Colonels clawed out an 11-9 lead with back and forth rallies, before the Cougars rallied with a 6-1 run to hold a 15-12 edge. After battling back to tie the set at 16-all, the Colonels found themselves within striking distance until a 5-2 run clinched the set and match for Misericordia.
Sophomore outside hitter
Zach Evans (Nescopeck, PA/Berwick) led the Colonels with six kills and three blocks, while sophomore setter
Zach Shay (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) had 12 assists. Matt Lavin had four aces for the Cougars, while Dylan Sellitti had 30 assists.
With the loss, the Colonels have concluded play in the 2021 men's volleyball season.
