Wilkes Women's Tennis Season Ends in Second Round of NCAA Tournament
ROCKY MOUNT, NC – The Wilkes University women's tennis team saw its perfect season come to an end in the second round of the NCAA Tournament as the Colonels fell 5-0 against the second seed in the region the University of Mary Washington Saturday afternoon.
Wilkes season concluded at 14-1 overall following its first defeat of the year. Mary Washington improved to 13-2 overall and advanced to the third round of the tournament.
In doubles, Mary Washington's Abby Moghtader and Lauren Quinn were victorious at No. 1, 8-0, and Claire Coleman and Amanda Hagino also won at No. 2, 8-0. Hana Kimmey and Rachel Cooper won at No. 3, 8-1, to put the Eagles two points from victory as singles started.
In singles, Quinn took a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3, and Hagino won 6-1, 6-0, at No. 4.
