Wilkes Women's Golf Finishes Day Two at MAC Championships
FLEETWOOD, PA – The Wilkes University women's golf team completed day two at the 2021 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships Sunday afternoon at the Golden Oaks Golf Club.
Sarah Sorber (Hunlock Creek, PA/Northwest Area) was the top finisher for Wilkes taking home 19
th place overall out of 54 golfers, shooting an 88 in round two for a two-day total of 180. Both of the scores were new school records at a MAC Championship event.
Gwen MacConnell (Great Bend, PA/Blue Ridge) followed in 32
nd place carding a 106 during round two play for a two-day total of 206.
Cassidy Taylor (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West) rounded out the Colonel competitors at the event finishing 38
th overall for a two-day total score of 229 after posting a 109 in round two.
York College (Pa.) captured the team title with a score of 647. Stevenson University finished second with a score of 655 while host Alvernia University rounded out the top three with a score of 712.
Natalie Robson was named MAC Women's Golfer of the Year after capturing the overall title with a two-day score of 153 edging Stevenson's Casey Oppenheimer by two strokes (155).
