Wilkes Men's Tennis Moves into Semifinals with 5-1 Win Against Arcadia
KINGSTON, PA – The #3 seed Wilkes University men's tennis team posted a 5-1 victory over #6 seed Arcadia University Monday afternoon at the TK Academy. The Colonels advance to the semifinals of the 2021 MAC Freedom Championship Tournament on Wednesday.
Wilkes improved to 9-2 overall following the win while Arcadia saw its season end at 2-8.
Wilkes jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles play thanks to wins from No. 3 pair
Cole Gibson (Pinecrest, FL/Miami Palmetto Senior) and
Connor Murphy (Denver, PA/Cocalico) at 8-0 and No. 2 pair
Jack Maline (Colorado Springs, CO/Northport) and
John Toussaint (Dallas, PA/Dallas Senior) 8-1.
Colin Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) began singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 straight set win at No. 5 before Maline went 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3.
John Toussaint (Dallas, PA/Dallas Senior) clinched the match for the Colonels winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4.
Wilkes will travel to #2 seed DeSales University for a semifinal match on Wednesday at a time to be announced.
