Wilkes Basketball Set for Wednesday Games at Lycoming

WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's and men's basketball teams are set to travel to Lycoming College for a pair of Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) contests on Wednesday at Lamade Gymnasium in Williamsport, Pa. The women's game will tip at 5:00 p.m. followed by the men's contest at 7:00 p.m.

Women's Preview:
Wilkes enters the conference matchup with a 3-2 record in the MAC Freedom and a 4-7 record overall. The Colonels are 2-4 on the road this season and will be returning to the court for the first time since December 18th.

Katelyn Kinczel (Highland Heights, OH/Mayfield) leads Wilkes and ranks ninth in the MAC Freedom with 12.9 points-per-game (ppg). She is tied for second in the league with 33 made three pointers and second behind teammate Brianna Horton (Verona, NJ/Verona) with a .375 three-point shooting percentage. Horton leads the MAC Freedom at a .385 clip on her 15 made threes and is second on the team with 8.5 ppg and 5.2 rebounds-per-game (rpg).

Julia Marino (Turnersville, NJ/Washington Township) leads the conference with 5.2 assists-per-game (apg) totaling 57 for the season. Erin Shober (Reading, PA/Wilson) leads the Colonels with 5.5 rpg and is the MAC Freedom leader with 2.1 blocks-per-game (bpg) as she has totaled 23 this season. She is third on the team in scoring at 7.2 ppg.

Wilkes is sixth of nine teams in the MAC Freedom with a 56.1 scoring average and eighth defensively allowing 64.4 ppg.

Lycoming comes in also at 3-2 in the conference and the Warriors are 3-10 overall this season. They are 2-3 at home this season.

Allison Butler leads the Warriors with 9.2 ppg and Emily Zoscin is second at 8.0 ppg. Ashley Yoh leads the team with 5.0 rpg with Butler and Kenzie Reed second with 4.8 rpg. Zoscin leads Lycoming with 24 assists and 26 steals. My Wetzel is the team leader with 12 made three pointers.

Lycoming is eighth in the MAC Freedom with 47.8 ppg and ranks fourth allowing 60.2 ppg.

The Warriors hold a 5-0 lead in the series dating back to the 2009 season and won the last meeting 78-57 on December 17, 2019 at the Marts Center. This will be the two team's first meeting as conference opponents.
 
Men's Preview:
Wilkes enters the road game with a 1-4 record in the MAC Freedom and a 3-8 mark overall. The Colonels are 3-4 on the road this season and are returning for their first game since December 30th.
 
Trent Fisher (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) leads the MAC Freedom with 16.5 ppg and his 6.7 rpg rank tenth in the league. Drake Marshall (Gainesville, VA/Patriot) is ninth in the league in scoring at 12.75 ppg and 12th with 6.1 rpg. Matthew Davidheiser (Reading, PA/Exeter Township) is also scoring in double figures for the Colonels at 10.7 ppg. Davidheiser leads the Colonels with 19 made three pointers and is fifth in the league lead with a .422 three-point shooting percentage.

Marshall is third in the conference with 4.2 apg, Fisher is fifth the league with 1.6 blocks-per-game and is fourth with 1.6 steals-per-game.

Wilkes is second in the MAC Freedom in scoring offense at 79.4 ppg while ranking seventh in scoring defense at 78.1 ppg.

Lycoming comes in at 4-1 in the conference and 9-5 overall. The Warriors are 4-2 at home this season.

Steven Hamilton leads Lycoming and ranks sixth in the conference with 14.2 ppg. Matt Ilodigwe (12.2), Dyson Harward (11.7), Mo Terry (11.5), and DeAundre Manuel (10.0) also score in double-figures.

Harward is second in the league with 10.3 rpg while Manuel is fifth with 7.3. Ilodigwe leads the conference with 39 made threes. Hamilton and Ilodigwe are both in the top 10 of the conference for assists while Harward is the team leader with 19 blocks.

Lycoming is ranked sixth in the MAC Freedom with 71.4 ppg and is third allowing 72.3 ppg.

This will be the first conference meeting between the two teams as the Warriors lead the series 3-1 dating back to 2009. The last meeting between the two schools was on November 25, 2012.
